Cosmetic Tattoo Services FAQ
How long does a Cosmetic Tattoo take to heal?
It takes 7-10 days to heal, and 4 weeks for your skin to fully regenerate and show the true healed colour. This is why we wait minimum 4 weeks until the touch up.
Will there be downtime?
There is no downtime with brows, and you will be able to return to work the following day. There may be a slight amount of redness and swelling, and the brows will appear darker and shiny from aftercare cream for the first 7 days. Lips and eyeliner tend to be slightly more sensitive, so we recommend doing this treatment when you have a couple days off work just to be safe.
What are the pre-care instructions?
Please refrain from consuming alcohol, caffeine, fish oil or blood thinning medications such as Ibuprofen for minimum 48 hours before your cosmetic tattoo treatment. For eyeliner tattoo, no contact lenses must be worn on the day, and no eyelash extensions from the day of your appointment until the tattoo has fully healed. For lip tattooing, we recommend consulting a pharmacist and taking antiviral tablets prior to your procedure if you are prone to cold sores.
What are the after-care instructions?
You cannot wet the brows for minimum 7 days – including water, sweat, steam or makeup. We will provide you with a detailed aftercare sheet as well as antiseptic aftercare cream to be lightly applied on the area a few times a day. Please follow all instructions as we want you to get the best possible results from the treatment.
How long will a tattoo appointment take?
Please allow 2.5 hours for your initial appointment, and 1.5 hours for your touch up in 4-8 weeks.
How long will the tattoo last?
It can usually last from 1-4 years depending on the procedure, your lifestyle and how well you look after them, and how well your body tends to hold pigment. A colour refresh is recommended for brows every 1-3 years to keep them looking their best. Lips and eyeliner tend to last slightly longer.
What can I expect at my first appointment?
Topical anaesthetic is applied to the area for 30mins, and in the meantime you will fill out our medical consent forms. We will take before photos, and tidy up your brows with threading. We will then start the shape consultation – according to your facial features we will assess and measure where the start, arch and tail of your brows should be. We will then draw on the brows with a pencil. We are happy to make any adjustments or changes to the shape for you. After this, we will have a colour consult where we analyse the best shade for you according to your hair colour and skin undertones. We have a wide range of colours from blondes to browns, most of the time we will mix colours together and create a custom colour for each client. Once you are 100% happy with the shape and colour, we will go ahead and start the tattoo which takes approximately 45-60mins. Anaesthetic gel is applied during the procedure, so the pain is minimal. We will then take after photos, and explain aftercare and provide you with a complimentary aftercare pack which includes a detailed instruction sheet and antiseptic cream. We will then book your touch up in 4-8 weeks time.
Can I have a consult prior to booking?
You are welcome to book an in-person consultation with us via our online booking system, or we are also happy to answer any questions over the phone. As part of your initial cosmetic tattoo appointment we conduct a thorough 45-60 minute shape and colour consultation, we do not do this full process as part of a quick consult.
Is a cosmetic tattoo suitable when pregnant?
Unfortunately we cannot tattoo if you are pregnant, yours and your babies health is important to us, so it is best to wait.
Can I book in a tattoo if I have a previous tattoo?
Yes, but we will need to see photos of the previous tattoo to make sure we are able to go over it and achieve the best possible result for you. You are also welcome to book in a consultation with us so we can have a proper look at your brows.
Do you do payment plans?
Yes, we have Afterpay available. Please note there are fees applied when using this payment method.
Other Services FAQ
What is the difference between tint or dye (Hybrid)?
Brow tint lasts up to 1 week on the skin and 3 weeks on the hair. Brow dye (hybrid brows) lasts up to 2 weeks on the skin and 6 weeks on the hair. If you prefer a skin stain or the look of henna brows, then brow dye is perfect for you.
What is the difference between threading and waxing?
Threading is a special piece of thread which is twisted in a loop and gently rolled over the skin a certain way to remove hair from the root. Waxing is when you apply hot wax and pull it off the skin. Threading is much quicker, less painful, more precise and gentler on your skin than waxing.
